The church service itself was pretty much a blend of a typical Baptist service and an Episcopal service. The sanctuary itself is a Baptist sanctuary and there was a baptism in a baptistry and a baby dedication at the end of the service, but the ministers wore robes, and there was a Christ candle lit at the beginning of the service, there was a lot of scripture read, there were a lot of responsive readings/saying, old hymns (my favorite!) with piano and organ (also my favorite!), and lots and lots of hospitality from the members of UBC.
In school-related news, I love it. This is the part of social work that I've been DYING to talk about - addictions, and not only addictions, but how our bodies change because of an addiction, group therapy (which I'm kind of thinking I can see myself doing one day), family therapy, interventions! - pretty much all of the fun stuff that social workers are able to do. I still can't believe that in LESS THAN A YEAR I will have a Master's degree, but I will! And I'm so excited!
In other general things-going-on news, I'm training (I guess is the word?) to do The Color Run in New Orleans in November. Running is something that I've always hated and of course have ended up loving (because that's what happens with everything I hate - except cilantro). If any of you want to join me and a friend in doing this, COME WITH US! It's going to be so much fun!
In random news, I'm in need of two dining room chairs and a coffee table. If you have any you don't want, send them my way! Other wise, I'm going to be forced to go thrift store shopping and find all the Dirt Cheaps I can. Bummer, huh? ;)
